Using ProQuest for Research Articles

The tabs on this page include step-by-step instructions for searching ProQuest databases and brief videos on search strategies.

To save articles and searches in ProQuest you will need to create a personal ProQuest account.

Locating Articles in ProQuest Databases

Log into ProQuest through the DTL (Digital Theological Library).

Choose Databases.

Locate ProQuest Databases in All Vendors / Providers or from the alphabetical listing.

Choose the ProQuest Database that fits your research topic.

Select Digital Theological Library - United States as the Institution / Library no matter your location, and Log in.

Choose either Basic Search to enter a search term or Advanced Search to combine terms.

Enter your search terms and choose the search index. Enclosing a phrase in quotation marks returns results with those words in that order. Anywhere means the term or phrase is in the title, abstract, author's name, or text. All subjects & indexing means the term or phrase is a subject or key word. Limit to Full text and Peer reviewed. Your professors expect only peer reviewed material to be used. Limit the Publication date to the last 5 or 10 years if you need the most recent scholarship.

Use the filters on the left to further limit your results. When you have more results that you need, use Subjects near the bottom  to further filter your results.

Clicking on Moore > under Subject opens a window with additional subject choices.

Create your personal ProQuest account to save searches or articles.

From the result screen you can cite, email, save, or view the abstract, the full text, or the number of times the article has been cited in other works.

Clicking on the ellipsis opens additional options.
