Paper #1 Historical-Cultural Analysis of Mark 7:1-19
Prepare a 3-4 page research paper analyzing the historical-cultural context of Mark 7:1-19. What are the most important historical-cultural references or assumptions in the passage, and how do they affect the way you interpret the passage? Utilize the methods found in Klein, Blomberg, and Hubbard's, Introduction to Biblical Interpretation, pp. 313-324.
Paper #2: Major Themes in the Gospels
Prepare a 3-4 page research paper on one of the following major themes from the Gospels: Jesus' View of Women in the Gospels, or Luke's view of Wealth. For the topic you choose, select no more than 4-5 major passages to deal with in some length. You may refer to a few others, but you will only have time and space to analyze 4-5 passages in detail.

Paper #3: Literary Context of Matthew 18:18-20
Prepare a 3-4 page paper on the literary context of Matthew 18:18-20. Your paper should address the following questions: What is the meaning of these verses in light of the context in which they appear? How do they relate to the section that comes right before it? How do they relate to the section that comes right after it? How do they fit within the overall flow of thought of Chapter 18? Utilize methods found in Introduction to Biblical Interpretation, pp. 294-312.
Paper #4: Mission in Acts
Prepare a 3-4 page paper on Mission in the book of Acts. What are some of the most cross-culturally valid principles for outreach and evangelism that can be discerned from Acts? How do you know? How do specific manifestations of those principles vary even within Acts and how might they have to be varied in other times and places? Choose no more than 3 major passages from Acts to analyze in some detail. In preparation, read Introduction to Biblical Interpretation, pp. 532-541.
